At the UNICEF and Nordics+ Embassies Breakfast Series, leaders from policy, science, business, and civil society gathered to reaffirm a shared truth: water is not merely a resource but the foundation of resilience.
Ambassador of Sweden to India, Jan Thesleff, welcomed participants and set the tone for the session, which was moderated by V.K. Madhavan of WaterAid India. Dr. Mihir Shah, Professor at Shiv Nadar University and former Member of the Planning Commission, stressed the need to break silos, urging scientists, technologists, agronomists, and advocates to work together.
Mr. Yugal Kishore Joshi of NITI Aayog highlighted that no water should be considered waste, encouraging a shift in perspective on value and sustainability. CSR leaders from Swedish companies, including Tetra Pak, ABB India, and Getinge, shared insights on advancing corporate responsibility beyond organizational boundaries.
This first event under the Sweden-India Nobel Memorial Week theme “Inspiring Progress” underscored a collective commitment. In partnership with UNICEF India, and with the engagement of governments, businesses, and civil society, the initiative aims to drive collaborative action for safe water and resilient futures.
