Delhi Hosts Opening of Night of Long Literatures at Czech Embassy

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi inaugurated the Night of Long Literatures with a reception attended by prominent figures from India’s literary and cultural spheres.

The event featured an exhibition titled Czech Heroines, showcasing portraits of notable women from Czech history and contemporary society. The exhibition, which has toured more than 30 countries, highlights the contributions of these influential figures.

For the Delhi edition, the display was expanded to include portraits of distinguished Czech Indologists and translators Dagmar Marková and Hana Preinhaelterová, as well as ethnographer Milada Ganguli. Ganguli is celebrated for her pioneering work documenting the tribal communities of Northeast India, particularly in the Naga regions.

The opening evening set a vibrant tone for the literary gathering, underscoring cultural exchange and longstanding Indo-Czech scholarly connections.
