Tensions escalated in the occupied West Bank on Friday morning when the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) carried out large-scale operations in several towns and villages. Homes in different areas were raided and many arrests were made. Meanwhile, some groups entered Palestinian areas near Ramallah, Nablus, Al-Khalil, and Tubas, further heightening the tense atmosphere.
The highest tension was seen in Silwad near Ramallah. Here, Palestinian youths protested the presence of the IOF and external groups. The atmosphere also remained tense in Deir Jarir and Deir Dibwan due to the actions of the security forces.
In Birzeit, the IOF arrested former prisoner Salama al-Qatawi. During a raid on the New Askar camp in Nablus, Shadi al-Rifai was taken into custody. In the village of Burin, two children — Khalid and Sahelm Zain — were also taken from their home.
In the southern West Bank, several homes were searched in Halhul and Al-Dhahiriya. In the Tammun area of Tubas, military bulldozers caused extensive damage to civilian property. According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS), around 60 people were arrested in Tubas, and many homes were used by the IOF as temporary military posts.
In Jenin, Qalqilya, and Tulkarm, sounds of explosions and flares were heard throughout the night. All these incidents are part of the large military operation ongoing in the northern West Bank.
