Russian Embassy Donates Traditional Toy Collection to Future World Toy Museum in New Delhi

New Delhi, Marking International Children’s Day, the Russian Embassy in India donated a unique collection of traditional Russian toys to the upcoming World Toy Museum in New Delhi.

The museum, an initiative of the Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti under India’s Ministry of Culture in collaboration with Toybank, is being developed as the country’s first interactive toy museum. The institution aims to provide children with an engaging space to explore the cultures, traditions, and heritage of different nations through play.

The collection was formally presented to Vijay Goel, former Union Minister, Member of Parliament, and Vice Chairman of Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, who is spearheading the museum project.

The donation features a variety of traditional Russian handcrafted toys, including matryoshka dolls depicting characters from Russian fairy tales, a classic roly-poly doll, ceramic fairy-tale figurines painted in the renowned Gzhel style, handmade motanka dolls specially created for the museum, and a wooden doll containing a music box.

The contribution is expected to enrich the museum’s international collection and strengthen cultural ties between India and Russia by introducing young visitors to the rich traditions of Russian folk art and storytelling.
