Fact Check: Jitu Patwari Did Not Ask for His Ram Temple Donation Back, Viral Statement Is Fake

Amid allegations of misappropriation of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple, several accused have been arrested and the investigation is currently underway. Meanwhile, in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress party has also accused the state government of a land scam in Ujjain. A few days ago, Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari addressed a press conference and criticized the government over the issue.

Against this backdrop, a postcard featuring a statement attributed to Jitu Patwari has gone viral on social media. The claim suggests that Patwari demanded the return of the money he had donated to the Ram Temple.

The viral postcard reads: “I had donated ₹1,100 for the Ram Temple. I want my money back.

Sharing the postcard, a user named Jitendra pratap singh wrote: “There is no animal on this earth more vile than Congress members.

Similarly, a Facebook page shared the postcard with the caption: “Jeetu Patwari has demanded the return of the money donated for the Ram Mandir…

Fact Check

The Times Headline team investigated the viral claim and found it to be fake. Our investigation found that Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari never demanded the return of the money he had donated to the Ram Temple. We also found that Dainik Jagran never published any such postcard quoting Patwari.

During the verification process, we noticed that the viral postcard carried the Dainik Jagran logo. We then reviewed Dainik Jagran’s official social media accounts on X, Instagram, and Facebook, but found no such postcard claiming that Jitu Patwari had asked for his Ram Temple donation to be returned.

For further verification, our team contacted Amit Sharma, General Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh Congress. Denying the viral claim, he said:

This is 100% fake news. Jitu Patwari has never made any statement asking for the return of money donated to the Ram Temple.

Our team also contacted Jitu Patwari, who dismissed the viral claim as fake news. He said he had never made such a statement and alleged that fake news was being spread by the BJP IT Cell to create confusion among people. He further stated that donating to a temple is a virtuous act and that asking for donated money back would be considered a sin.
