French Embassy Thanks Nirmala Sitharaman and Neiphiu Rio for Attending Bastille Day Celebration

The French Embassy in India has expressed gratitude to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for attending the Bastille Day celebrations, highlighting the growing strength of India-France relations.

In a statement shared after the event, the French side thanked both leaders for their presence, saying their participation reflected the deep and enduring friendship between the two countries.

The embassy noted that the occasion underscored the strength of the India-France relationship and their shared commitment to a special global strategic partnership. It added that this partnership is built on mutual trust, shared ambitions, and close cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including defence, trade, technology, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

Bastille Day, celebrated every year on 14 July, is France’s National Day and commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, a landmark event of the French Revolution. The celebration also serves as an opportunity to reaffirm France’s strong diplomatic partnerships around the world, including its long-standing strategic partnership with India.
