The central Gaza city of Deir al-Balah has once again come under Israeli airstrikes. In the attacks carried out on Thursday morning, at least eight Palestinian civilians were killed, while several others were seriously injured. Medical sources in Gaza have confirmed the casualties.
According to local reports, the home of the al-Houli family in western Deir al-Balah was directly targeted, killing three people on the spot and injuring several others. In a separate attack, the courtyard of the al-Jarrou family’s home was bombed, after which two more bodies were recovered from the rubble.
Even before these latest attacks, Gaza’s Government Media Office had accused Israel of serious and systematic violations of the ceasefire agreement. According to the office, a total of 1,244 violations have been recorded since the ceasefire came into effect on 10 October 2025.
The Media Office report states that these violations include:
402 incidents of direct gunfire at civilians,
66 military incursions into residential areas,
581 air and artillery attacks on unarmed civilians and their homes, and
195 cases in which civilian houses, institutions, and buildings were completely destroyed.
As a result of these continued attacks and violations, 449 Palestinian civilians have so far been killed, with their bodies brought to hospitals, while 1,246 people have been injured. In addition, there have been reports of 50 cases of arbitrary arrests carried out by Israeli forces.
The latest attack on Deir al-Balah once again underscores just how dire the situation on the ground is, and how, amid claims of a ceasefire, ordinary civilians are paying the heaviest price.
